The UMTC is the lead institution for the MnSGC. The MnSGC is housed in the Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics (AEM) Dept. in Akerman Hall on the East Bank Minneapolis campus. Programming is available University-wide, but most activities involve students and faculty in the College of Science and Engineering (CSE).

Administration
- Administer MnSGC activities statewide: seek annual funding, generate affiliate subcontracts, statewide reporting for NASA

Scholarships, Fellowships, Internships
- Provide scholarship/fellowship support to UMTC students majoring in areas of interest to NASA (e.g. all CSE majors)
- Provide funding for MN students selected by NASA mentors to do summer internships at NASA research centers

- Offer aerospace-themed freshman seminars
- Support aerospace-themed senior design projects
- Support Wearable Technology class (Apparel Design)
- Stratospheric weather-ballooning team
- Host annual Space Grant Midwest Rocketry Competition

- CubeSat development – SOCRATES mission
